Aims: Mortality rates from chronic kidney disease (CKD) have increased in the last decade. In this pre-specified analysis of the DAPA-CKD trial, we determined the effects of dapagliflozin on cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular causes of death.
Methods and results: DAPA-CKD was an international, randomized, placebo-controlled trial with a median of 2.4 years of follow-up. Eligible participants were adult patients with CKD, defined as a urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) 200-5000 mg/g and an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 25-75 mL/min/1.73 m2. All-cause mortality was a key secondary endpoint. Cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular death was adjudicated by an independent clinical events committee. The DAPA-CKD trial randomized participants to dapagliflozin 10 mg/day (n = 2152) or placebo (n = 2152). The mean age was 62 years, 33% were women, the mean eGFR was 43.1 mL/min/1.73 m2, and the median UACR was 949 mg/g. During follow-up, 247 (5.7%) patients died, of whom 91 (36.8%) died due to cardiovascular causes, 102 (41.3%) due to non-cardiovascular causes, and in 54 (21.9%) patients, the cause of death was undetermined. The relative risk reduction for all-cause mortality with dapagliflozin (31%, hazard ratio [HR] [95% confidence interval (CI)] 0.69 [0.53, 0.88]; P = 0.003) was consistent across pre-specified subgroups. The effect on all-cause mortality was driven largely by a 46% relative risk reduction of non-cardiovascular death (HR [95% CI] 0.54 [0.36, 0.82]). Deaths due to infections and malignancies were the most frequently occurring causes of non-cardiovascular deaths and were reduced with dapagliflozin vs. placebo.
Conclusion: In patients with CKD, dapagliflozin prolonged survival irrespective of baseline patient characteristics. The benefits were driven largely by reductions in non-cardiovascular death.

In addition to our semester, year-long, and study tour options, Loyola also offers a number of independent and faculty-led summer programs. There is a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA requirement for all summer programs. For questions concerning summer study abroad program fees, please reach out to Yvette McMillan-Bell in Student Administrative Services (SAS) in Maryland Hall. Accepted students will have one meeting and one pre-departure orientation with their program director to review paperwork, safety measures, packing details, and all necessary information prior to departure.
The philosophy of Loyola's Office of International Programs is to provide students with an in-depth experience of another culture by focusing on one program. Therefore, programs like Semester at Sea and similar programs would not be acceptable. The Office of International Programs must approve any international program that a student wishes to obtain credits from while at Loyola University Maryland.
Electronic applications for Summer 2023 programs opened in December, 2022. To apply for a summer program, first log into our application portal and then select Programs in the menu in the top-left corner. Summer & May-mester programs are labeled with "Summer" on this page.
2 Courses, Ethics core: TH305 Ethics Contemporary and Moral Issues. And students select either IB 300: Special Topics in International Business: Czech Culture and Business OR MG300 Special Topics in Management: Czech Culture and Business
Students have the option to select a non-Loyola summer program. The program selected should fit into their academic course of study. Once students have selected a study abroad program, they should do the following:
In order to apply, all students must attend a Study Abroad 101 Session before the application deadline. The application deadline for all Fall, Spring, and year-long opportunities during Academic Year 2023/2024 was December 7, 2022.
For many years, the evolutionary origins of subdwarf B stars remained a mystery. Observations of sdB stars with composite spectra and theoretical considerations suggested that binary star evolution should play a major role, but proof that a large fraction are binaries has taken a decade to establish. Whilst many sdB stars have recently been recognised to be in short-period binaries with unseen companions [8], we have focused on sdB stars in which the spectrum of the secondary can be seen [5]. We previously studied these systems by means of their flux distributions [1] and shown that the secondaries are probably main-sequence G stars. This result has been confirmed from analysis of their optical and near-infrared spectra [2].
To view the list of the default codes, let's go to Taxes from the left menu. Then, select Edit rates under the Edit VAT drop-down bar. Here's what it looks like:
I am getting the following error when trying to enter a bill from a UK supplier. Normally I would use the RCS VAT code for this and it worked perfectly up until recently. Now I get the following error.
Following on from my previous post - this issue has just arisen and used to work correctly. However, since Sep 1st. the Irish VAT rate has changed from 23% to 21% but I notice the RCS rate which is a built in rate has not changed. I think this is the problem. If I try to create a new RCS VAT rate it does not behave in the same way as the built in RCS rate ( adding the vat to both the sales and the purchases).

However, if the issue still persists, I recommend uninstalling/reinstalling the QuickBooks app. This is to ensure you get the most recent version of the application. You can get the detailed steps in this article: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac: General support.
From January 1, 2021, there will be VAT code changes. The UK VAT registered businesses may need to consider reviewing Import VAT (also known as PVA Import or Postponed VAT accounting), which must be reflected in the VAT return.
If your business receives imported goods from outside of the UK and is registered for VAT in the UK, you may need to review the Import VAT on your VAT return. There will be no changes to the treatment of VAT or how you account for the movement of goods between Northern Ireland and the EU.
To create PVAT 20% code, you'll have to create first a new VAT Item, a VAT group consisting of another new VAT Item, and an already existing VAT Item. You can check this link for the steps and other information: How to create PVAT 20% and 0% codes in QBDT.
Due to the Brexit impact, you need to report VAT separately to the Revenue in Ireland and another to the UK for the purchased goods or services. Thus, you may use the Standard (S) VAT code when purchasing supplies from a UK VAT-registered supplier. Then, create a VAT code and linked VAT items manually. 2b1af7f3a8
